Disenfranchisement of 24.8% of our population
In honor of father's day I would like to make a proposal to deal with the largest flaw in our and every democracy and that is the disenfranchisement of children. The fact that children are not represented is deadly to them.
In any rational world society would have free health care for children who are on their way to becoming productive citizens before they had free health care seniors who will never again be productive citizens.
Notice in the US we don't have that. And why us that. Because old people can vote and children can't. Of course you will say we have free schools for children and that didn't need to vote for that. But that is not true. There is no free childcare for kids who are to young to work but once kids can be useful in a work setting 5 to 6 years old they are compelled by law to be in school. Mandatory schooling was voted in by working men who did not want to compete with children for jobs so they helped to vote children out of the workforce.
The disenfranchisement of children is one of the key flaws in every democracy. I believe the best solution is that children should get proxy votes that can be voted by their primary care giver. So single mother of 2 would get 3 votes. A married couple of 1 would each get 1/2 of a vote.
